Description
As scholarly collaboration grows and publication pressures mount, institutions face complex challenges around authorship and research integrity. This session features three experts addressing questionable research practices, with a focus on authorship ethics. Cary Moskovitz (Duke) will explore text recycling—also known as self-plagiarism—highlighting disciplinary norms and guidance from the Text Recycling Research Project. Kerry Seligman (MIT) will share strategies for developing and implementing institutional authorship guidelines through stakeholder engagement and consensus-building. Lisa Rasmussen (UNC Charlotte) will present The Authorship Project, offering tools to promote transparency and accountability in research collaborations. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for resolving authorship disputes, frameworks for guideline development, and resources to support ethical writing and responsible research practices.
