Dr. Chawla has directed the Office of Research Compliance at Eastern Michigan University for 11 years. She serves as the RIO and manages research security at her institution. Dr. Chawla is also in the final year of a NSF-funded study on scientific ethics instruction and, in her pre-compliance life, conducted research on child development and on family violence. She has her Ph.D. and M.A. in psychology from Boston University and her S.B. in brain and cognitive science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
