Description
As the boundaries between research misconduct and research security continue to blur, institutions face growing challenges in safeguarding the integrity and trustworthiness of the research enterprise. This session brings together research integrity officers, federal law enforcement representatives, and research security experts to explore how traditional misconduct concerns—such as falsification, fabrication, and plagiarism—intersect with emerging threats like foreign interference, insider risk, and intellectual property theft. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to navigate complex cases, strengthen institutional resilience, and foster a culture of ethical and secure research.
Through case studies, regulatory updates, and cross-sector dialogue, presenters will examine:
•	How misconduct investigations can uncover or overlap with security risks.
•	The evolving role of research integrity offices in supporting institutional security efforts.
•	Strategies for collaboration between integrity, compliance, and security stakeholders.
•	Federal perspectives on enforcement, reporting, and institutional responsibilities.
Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to navigate complex cases, strengthen institutional resilience, and foster a culture of ethical and secure research.
