Research integrity matters often create regulatory, legal, ethical, operational, and reputational risks that require institutions to make timely and informed decisions. This panel brings together experts representing research integrity, university leadership, legal counsel, and bioethics to explore how institutions assess and communicate risk throughout the lifecycle of a case. Panelists will discuss factors that influence institutional decision-making, approaches for evaluating potential impacts, and strategies for communicating risk to stakeholders such as deciding officials, institutional leadership, and general counsel.
Through practical examples and discussion of real-world challenges, participants will gain insight into how different stakeholders view risk, balance competing considerations, and work collaboratively to support fair, compliant, and effective institutional responses while maintaining trust in the research enterprise.
